23 Jun 2010
Sabrina Del Ben, who travelled to Cuba during her time at university, has written of the culinary inpiration that she experienced on the island. Ever keen to learn about the culture of the countries she visits, Del Ben investigated Cuba's culinary traditions, regional differences and Spanish, African and Caribbean influences. "I learned there is a rich food culture and a fierce pride for classic Cuban cuisine", she writes.
The chef found the rice and beans dish to be the epitome of Cuban cuisine and identified the different ways it was prepared and eaten across the country. By observing Cuba's culinary customs, she got a special insight into the country's culture. She states, "To understand a culture through food is one of my favourite experiences from every holiday."
