Part time/Full time hours available / Salary negotiable
About The Queen
We are a small country pub and pride ourselves on high standards for food and service. The Queen has been here for 210 years and this year will become a Freehouse. The Queen is a key part of an active community of wonderful people. Alongside our pub & restaurant we have a deli shop and bakery, a fantastic outdoor space, kitchen garden and glamping site. The pub is privately owned and run by a forward thinking team.
What will be required?
Ideally you will have experience working in a busy environment. You must be confident and enjoy engaging in conversation and serving others. You must be able to work on your own as well as part of a team. We are a small business and you must be resourceful and always on the lookout for the next task.
More about the Job
You will be required to work evenings and weekends. Due to our location you will probably need your own transport or live in the village. The job will give you plenty of skills and contacts to take forward to future opportunities.
Job Duties:
* Leads kitchen team in head chef's absence
* Experience in leading a service in a small fresh food kitchen
* Filleting and butchering skills would be preferred but not essential
* Oversees and organizes kitchen stock and ingredients
* Ensures a first-in, first-out food rotation system and verifies all food products are properly dated and organized for quality assurance
* Keeps cooking stations stocked, especially before and during prime operation hours
* Manages food and product ordering by keeping detailed records and minimises waste, plus works with existing systems to improve waste reduction and manage budgetary concerns
* Food preparation and presentation to ensure quality and restaurant standards
* Works with head chef to maintain kitchen organization, staff ability, and training opportunities
* Verifies that food storage units all meet standards and are consistently well-managed
* Assists head chef with menu creation
* Coordinates with restaurant management team on supply ordering, budget, and kitchen efficiency and staffing
