A superb opportunity has come up for a newly-created role as an Estate Head Chef within a luxury 5 Star Hotel located just north of Harpenden. Set within a huge estate, and with beautiful gardens, it is an attractive setting for weddings, as well as meetings, afternoon tea, overnight stays, and of course a stop off at the ‘19th hole’ after a round of golf!

The role of Estate Head Chef is a new position created within the business. Reporting to the Executive Head Chef, you will oversee operations in all 4 of the onsite kitchens, from the 2 Rosette standard fine dining restaurant, to the brasserie and more casual dining.

The Estate Head Chef’s responsibility will be to support the Executive Head Chef in ensuring that food is produced to the highest 5 Star international standard, whilst maintaining absolute levels of cleanliness and food safety across the board.

As well as being able to chip in and assist on the frontline when necessary, the Estate Head Chef role will entail that gross profit targets are met through stringent stock control; as well as working with the department Head Chefs to produce rotas with an eye on efficiency and cost control, whilst maintaining high standards; and to have a hand in the compilation and development of fresh new menus. Plus, you would have a hand in the training and development, and succession planning for all of the kitchens in the hotel.

Our Estate Head Chef must have:

- Relevant experience as a Head Chef in a 4/5 Star environment.
- Experience with the different types of catering, such as fine dining and banqueting, and an understanding of the different needs of each one.
- Intermediate or Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification.
- Excellent communication.
- Strong leadership skills but also a team player.
- Good financial awareness and some knowledge of Office systems.
- Ideally already in a similar role or with experience dealing with a multi-kitchen site and banqueting for at least 200 guests.
