At The Orange Tree, we’re looking for a talented Head Chef to join our growing team based in Romford, Essex.

Just a stone’s throw from Bedford’s Park, The Orange Tree is a traditional pub & restaurant situated in the heart of Havering Atte Bower. Located on a green plateau called Orange Tree Hill and surrounded by forest, this family pub has a warm, friendly atmosphere with open log fires and delicious pub food.

The Orange Tree is part of independent group True Pub Co, comprising 19 atmospheric pubs built on traditional values, character and charm, sitting at the heart of the local communities in London and the Home Counties.

Offering tasty, classic dishes, cooked with a fresh contemporary twist, we use only the best and freshest seasonal ingredients sourced by our skilled chefs. Simple food, done very well, is our motto.

Required Skills:

* Experience working in a busy kitchen and ability to work under pressure whilst leading the team

* Organisational flair, flexibility and consistency alongside a can-do attitude

* Excellent cooking skills and knowledge of food production methods

* Ability to maintain the standards expected by the company and General Manager

* Seek to inspire the team around you with creative and innovative concepts and strong interpersonal skills with colleagues and customers alike

* Good understanding of written and spoken English

About the role:

You’ll primarily oversee the consistent preparation and cooking of all food to the expected standards and dish specifications.

In addition, you’ll ensure:

* Excellent hygiene, health and safety standards within the business, which are followed and developed on a daily basis, including a clean and safe kitchen environment

* Delivery of quality food to the expected standards and dish specifications at all times

* Monitoring portion and waste control to maintain profit margin

* Leading the kitchen team whilst working cohesively with the GM, Sous Chef and front of house staff

* Attention to detail upon completion of company paperwork with regards to H&S standards and processing delivery notes
