Michel Roux visited the catering students of Uxbridge College's Hayes campus yesterday. Roux Jr, known for his exacting standards in the kitchen, talked about his early years in the industry and gave the students valuable tips . In 1967 his father, Albert, and uncle Michel opened the Britain's first Michelin-starred restaurant. Eighteen year-old William Baker, who is taking his diploma in professional cookery, said: "When we were told that he was going to be coming to the college, I was really excited. Out of all the chefs, Michel Roux Jr is definitely one of my biggest inspirations. James Orford, catering & hospitality manager, said that the chef's visit was a 'privilege' and added: "We were all spellbound listening to his tales from his career.
