Description

Reporting to the Chief Instructor you will maintain the overall smooth running of the waterfront. As a Beach Senior you will be responsible for providing support to your team of Watersports Instructors, the Chief Instructor and Manager, occasionally acting in any of these roles in their absence. You will also support our customers throughout their stay, answering any queries they may have. You will ensure that practical and theory based tuition is provided and that it adheres to RYA criteria along with guaranteeing that safety measures are in place and are followed at all times. Have a positive attitude towards achieving targets and drive the team to succeed, share your passion for excellent customer service which in turn will generate sales through interaction with guests and develop team members with regular coaching and guidance. On occasion, you will be responsible for preparing and conducting daily staff meetings with waterfront and childcare staff. You will play a key role in leading and supporting the ongoing training of your team.

Customer Focus
Obtain a daily/weekly weather forecast and relay this information to staff and guests
Creating a welcoming and encouraging environment for guests to learn new skills
Attending evening social events e.g. Charity fundraisers, Welcome Meal and Send-off BBQ

Operational
Effective running of the waterfront in the Activities Supervisor’s absence
Teaching a variety of sessions when required
Preparing notes, obtaining and interpreting forecasts and instruction session pre-planning for daily staff meeting
Running a daily staff meeting with all instructors and children’s club staff to assign duties, plan teaching sessions and ensure all groups have adequate equipment levels
Offer advice and guidance for instructors in relation to session planning and offer a range of alternate ideas for large groups and inclement weather
Delegating maintenance, cleaning and any other beach duties to instructors throughout the day
Motivating all beach staff to deliver high standards
Giving staff incentives and time off in accordance with operational needs e.g. windsurf/sailing rotation
Opening and set up of all beach equipment in time for lessons
Ensure all equipment is securely locked and stored when the beach is closed
All necessary maintenance checks and preventative maintenance tasks are completed
Maintenance records are filed and accurate
Ensure all COSSH information is collated and stored on site
Complete weekly H&S audits
Implement and complete ongoing training programs in all areas, at all levels, for all staff
Ensure that Apprentice Instructors are trained in accordance with governing body syllabus
Carrying out first aid and complete accident forms as necessary
Providing exceptional safety cover for all water users
Oversee, guide and develop the skills of staff in teaching groups of guests new skills in line with the governing body syllabus
Carrying out monthly stock takes


Sales
Taking bookings for activities and upselling ‘extras’ in resort
Using initiative to meet sales targets on logbooks, course sales, merchandise and private tuition

 

All applicants must have an EU / UK passport, UK NI number, UK address and UK bank account. 

Requirements

Qualifications
It is essential that you have the following qualifications:

  • RYA Senior Instructor (in either discipline)
  • RYA Dinghy Instructor / RYA Start Windsurf Instructor
  • RYA Powerboat Level 2
  • Safety Boat Certificate
  • First Aid (valid for a minimum of 6 months from posting date)
  • Full, clean UK driving licence

It is highly desirable that you possess one or more of the following qualifications:

  • RYA Intermediate Windsurfing Planing Instructor
  • RYA Intermediate Windsurfing Non-Planing Instructor 
  • RYA Racing Coach Level 2 
  • RYA Multihull Endorsement 
  • RYA Powerboat Instructor 
  • RYA Advanced Dinghy Instructor 
  • RYA Advanced Windsurf Instructor 
  • RYA Powerboat Trainer 
  • RYA Windsurfing Trainer 
  • RYA Dinghy Coach/Assessor 
  • BCU Kayak Instructor 
  • SUP Instructor
