Young Chef Apprentices Get To Final

Ralph Allen School's student, Alfie Lewis made it through to the under-16 section final of the Chef v Chef competition, held at City of Bath College. Last September, Alfie entered the contest through the college's Young Apprenticeship Programme. This programme gives teenagers aged 14-16 the opportunity to train as a hospitality apprentice alongside their school studies. College principal Matt Atkinson said the course was aimed at giving students with an interest in catering an insight into what work in the industry really entails. Head Chef Stuart Ash says that for those with a passion for cooking which will motivate them through the often unsocial working hours, the catering industry offers some real rewards.
